UGM students won 1st place in the Innovative Research Paper National Competition at Universitas Diponegoro

Getting together in Equilibrium team, three undergraduate students of the Faculty of Economics and Business Universitas Gadjah Mada (FEB UGM), consisting of Made Lanang Ray Widyatmika (Accounting 2015), Fernandi Army (Economics 2015), and Jesita Wida Ajani (Economics-IUP 2016), won first place in the Innovative Research Paper National Competition (INVENTION) organized by Faculty of Economics and Business Student Executive Board (BEM FEB) Universitas Diponegoro.
Innovative Research Paper National Competition (INVENTION) is series of one of the biggest annual economic event, Diponegoro Economic Festival (DEFEST), that has been entered in 8th years. This year, INVENTION main theme was "Youth of the Nation Synergy in Inclusive and Sustainable Development to Meet Indonesia Gold 2045". The final round of the competition was held for three days, starting from 25 to 28 October 2018 and participated by 10 teams with the best papers from various universities in Indonesia.
This competition consists of two selection stages to be able to take part in the final round. In the first phase, the jury selected abstracts from participants which were obtained as many as 55 best abstracts. In the next stage, participants were asked to submit a full paper and only 10 of the best papers will passed to the final round. The equilibrium team from UGM is one of teams that passed two previous stages and can participate in the final round. Several other teams that passed in the final round were Universitas Indonesia, Universitas Padjajaran, Universitas Airlangga, Universitas Sumatera Utara, Institut Teknologi Sepuluh November, Universitas Diponegoro, and others.
The final round of the competition consists of three competitions, i.e. the presentation of papers, debates, and case studies. For two days, the equlibrium team from UGM competed with 9 other finalists and succeed become a winner with a total score of 286 and outperformed the other finalists. Equilibrium team wrote a paper titled "UMKM 4.0: Usaha Rakyat Berbasis Pemuda yang Berdaya Saing Tinggi, Inklusif, dan Berkelanjutan." This competition is not only used as opportunity to show the best capabilities of students but also encourage their empathy to find innovative solutions of the problems faced by the nation.
