The NL_lone team from Universutas Gadjah Mada consisting of M. Sulthan Farras Nanz (Management 2016), Antonius Yonanda (Information Technology 2016), and Aditya Laksana Suwandi (Information Technology 2015) won the 2nd place in the Toyota Fun Code Hackathon 2019, category of Disability. This competition has been held on 2-3 November 2019 at Candi Bentar Hall, Putri Duyung Cottage Ancol, Jakarta.
TOYOTA Funcode is a competition programming (hackathon) from TOYOTA that invites Indonesian technology and information heroes in creating digital products to provide solutions from problems in the automotive world, such as safety while driving, reducing the frequency of accidents, and maintenance for the vehicles.
The product developed by the NL_lone team is DEFINO 'Deaf Asistant of Toyota', a system that will help Toyota drivers who are deaf to communicate with passengers and monitor the surrounding conditions while driving. This step is carried out using a digital sound sensor to convert the sound of the vehicle/ siren/ horn into visual signals and vibrations to improve the response of the driver. Equipped with VICO 'Visual Communication' feature, the product offered is able to provide an interactive communication experience through visualization on a tablet device installed in the car.
After successfully eliminating 700 other ideas, the NL_Ione Team won the 2nd place. "With DEFINO, Toyota can proactively promote and increase the inclusion of transportation access and economic activities for people with disabilities," Sulthan said.
