The Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FEB UGM) received another good news. On Saturday (18/11), the Infinity Team won first place in the 2023 UNNES Accounting Competition (NECTION). The team consisted of three 2020 Accounting students: Ahlan Nur Salim, Astarina Oksesabatini Rianto, and Yolanda Viera Eka Putri. This achievement aligns with Sustainable Development Goal No. 4, namely Quality Education. NECTION is one of the work programs of the Accounting Study Forum (FOKUS) Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Negeri Semarang. With the theme "Creating A Critical and Innovative Gold Generation in Accounting in the 5.0 Era", NECTION 2023 hopes that participants can be motivated to become accountants who can adapt to the challenges of the times.
This competition consists of three stages, namely the preliminary round, semifinal round, and final round, which took place from 15 October to 18 November 2023. After going through a series of stages, Team Infinity was selected to be one of the five teams entitled to continue the competition to the final round. The Infinity team succeeded in exploring its views on the topic "The Impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Technology on Accounting" in the final presentation session. In outlining the impact of using AI and technology, the Infinity team carefully identified several positive and negative effects that may arise, along with innovative solutions to respond to negative consequences that may occur. "One solution is integrating educational curricula in universities with technology or AI," said Yolanda.
The Infinity team responded ably to questions in the question-and-answer session. The team also demonstrated a deep understanding of the complex issues related to integrating technology into accounting practice. During the presentation round, the team admitted they were nervous because the topic was decided suddenly. "Only 10 minutes were provided to create the material and 8 minutes for the presentation," recalled Yolanda. Thanks to serious struggle, the Infinity Team managed to win first place with a narrow score difference from second place. "We feel grateful, happy and surprised because this is our first competition as a team, and we immediately won 1st place," explained Yolanda.
FEB UGM congratulates the Infinity Team on their brilliant achievement!
