Students of FEB UGM Achieved 3rd Winner in 15th Economix: Global Economic Challenges at Universitas Indonesia

Two undergraduate students of Faculty of Economics and Business Universitas Gadjah Mada (FEB UGM), Phelia Myrna (Economics 2016) and Sisilia Juliana Hanamaria (Economics 2016), won 3rd place in world international competition "15th Economix: Global Economic Challenges", category of main competition, held by undergraduate economics students at the Faculty of Economics and Business Universitas Indonesia (KANOPI FEB UI), on November 14-16, 2017.
The competition is held annually at the Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Indonesia (FEB UI). It is a part of the 15th Economix series of events. This time, 15th Economix theme is "The Resurgence of Neo-Protectionism: A Changing World," and is divided into 4 events: Seminar, Economix Model United Nations, Main Competition and Mini Essay Competition. In this competition, Myrna and Sisilia successfully pass the various stages of the competition until finally won the 3rd place.
The competition consists of four stages. First, the participants require to submit paper by choosing one of the three subthemes provided. Then, 12 qualified teams were invited to FEB UI to continue the selection stages of paper presentation, knowledge assessment, and economic speech. From the four stages, the score will be accumulated and the 5 teams with the highest score will go to the final round. In the final round, 5 qualified teams were given case studies in which participants had to analyze cases raised from major themes, find solutions to solve the case, prepare presentations, search for data, and prepare for presentation within 3 hours.
12 teams who successfully passed the paper selection came from different universities such as UI, UGM, ITB, Binus University International, and De La Salle University (Philippines).
