UGM Students Won 1st Place in National Economic Debate VIBE 2018 at Universitas Kristen Petra

Voice in Breakthrough Education (VIBE 2018) is a national-scale marketing-economics debate organized by the Marketing Student Association at Universitas Kristen Petra Surabaya, which held on 2-5 May 2018. The theme raised in VIBE 2018 is "Digital Marketing for Startup Business". The first stage of this round was paper selection. Participants were required to write a paper with the theme of digital marketing to qualify for the next stage. Universitas Gadjah Mada’s Team "Newbee team" made it into the top 16 and went to compete in Surabaya on 2-5 May 2018.
In this round, each team competed and debated 3 times againts another team. In the top 8, each team competed twice. Finally, in the last round (4 teams), each team competed simultaneously and debated for 3 hours. The teams that entered the final round were the teams from Universitas Gadjah Mada, Universitas President, Universitas Brawijaya, and Universitas Kristen Petra. The debated motion varies every team. UGM got a motion titled, "Is Conventional Marketing Still Needed Compared to Digital Marketing?" UGM team consisted of Fernandi Army (Economics 2015), Rickfan Wijaya (Accounting 2016), and Natasha Kristanti (English-Vocational School 2016) and they won the first place in VIBE 2018.
