Tiffany Aida Puspa Ashri (Accounting 2023), a Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FEB UGM) student, has achieved remarkable success in the Agrivition 2024 - Study Case Competition, organized by the Student Executive Body (BEM), Faculty of Agricultural Technology - Universitas Udayana on 4-15 December 2024.
In the competition, which was held online in December 2024, the Doa Petani Team consisting of Tiffany and her teammates, Muhammad Attar Gibran (Agricultural Industry Technology 2022) and M. Fajar Ridho Ilham (Agricultural Engineering 2022) from the Faculty of Agricultural Technology (FTP) UGM, won first place after beating dozens of other teams from various universities across Indonesia.
Tiffany, a 2023 Accounting major, and her team, led by Chandra Setyawan, STP., M.Eng., Ph.D., IPM, ASEAN Eng., were tasked with solving a case study on high porosity soil in hillside plantation areas. This condition affects the sustainability of organic farming due to rapid water infiltration, resulting in a rapid loss of soil nutrients.
This team proposed solutions to manage the soil to improve water retention, design a cost-effective irrigation system, and implement organic compost production methods to improve soil nutrient levels. This approach aims to create a sustainable, regenerative farming system, a solution highly commended by the judges and will be implemented by the partner company in 2025.
Tiffany made an outstanding contribution to this agricultural competition. Despite coming from a financial background, she was able to offer ideas and solutions to the case, especially in the area of economic analysis. Her participation in this competition demonstrates her ability to integrate accounting knowledge with challenges in other sectors. This achievement proves that accounting expertise has a broad and relevant scope across different fields.
"We are happy and did not expect to win first place. We are even more pleased to know that Case Collaborator will implement our solution next year," she said.
