Master of Management FEB UGM held 1000 Tree Planting at Merapi

Master of Management, Faculty of Economics and Business Universitas Gadjah Mada re-plant trees in the area of Merapi for the activity entitled "Evergreen Merapi". It is performed on Saturday (2/6) in the Village Nrangkah, Kinahrejo, Cangkringan, Sleman by planting 1,000 seedlings. Assistance in the form of productive plant seeds comprising of 500 Sengon seedlings and 500 seedlings of mahogany. Despite the trees, the given assistance is in the form of fertilizers, hoes, and other equipments.
The handover tree seedlings is performed symbolically with tree planting by the Head of Jakarta Branch Master of Management FEB UGM, Wakhid Slamet Ciptono, Ph.D., Vice President for Academic Affairs and Research Master of Management FEB UGM, Nurul Indrati, Ph.D., and Chairman of RT 01 Villages Ngrangkah, Sunardi. Furthermore, the village administrative as well as Master of Management FEB UGM student club in Sustainable Development Club (SDC) joined the cultivation process.
Dr. Wakhid said that the delivery of aid and planting tree seedlings in the region of Merapi is the implementation of environmental and social ethics developed by Master of Management FEB UGM. "This activity is the manifestation of Master of Management FEB UGM who concerns for the environment, particularly around Merapi, which some time ago was affected by the eruption," he explained.
He hopes that these activities can provide values and benefits to the people around Merapi. "Hopefully in the future there will be a value, useful and benefit to the people," he said.
Dr. Wakhid added that the current tree planting is a series of activities to commemorate the 24th Anniversary of Master of Management FEB UGM. 24th Anniversary is used as a momentum to harmonize various aspects of life towards a better life. "Planting tress as we attempt to share with the community," said Dr. Wakhid.
Meanwhile, Chairman of RT 01 Ngrangkah, Sunardi, is thankful for the assistance provided by the Master of Management FEB UGM in order as to cover the area that have suffered damages after the eruption of 2010. "We are very grateful for the assistance. Hopefully the people can take advatage of it," he said briefly.
