Become a Competitive Leader in Industry 4.0, Analisa: Positive Thinking and Empathy are the keys

Leadership training for FEB UGM middle management education staff was again held by the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FEB UGM) on Tuesday (26/3). Located at the Learning Center Building on the 6th floor of FEB UGM, CEO Indonesian Personality Development Center (APDC), Analisa Widyaningrum, M.Psi, Psychologist was invited as the main speaker. This training is related to industrial era 4.0, with the theme of "How to be a Competitive Manager in The Industry 4.0".
The training was opened by Head of Administrative Office FEB UGM, Agus Ridwan, S.P., M.M. "Training for education staff is consistently carried out in order to improve and acquire new knowledge, as well as a way to reach FEB UGM general objective. FEB UGM educational staff status diversity is expected to not be an obstacle in serving students and other stakeholders, "said Agus.
At the beginning of the presentation of training material, Analisa explained about how industrial revolution development stands in this modern world. Starting from the industrial revolution 1.0 to 4.0 that is happening now and its solution, which is to face it, "Each generation has advantages and disadvantages. The challenge is to manage people and how to be able to communicate the same perspective," said Analisa. She also said that as a leader, she must know the ability of each team member.
At that moment, Analisa had also discussing behavior differences between millennial generation and the previous one. For her, managing HR full of millennial generation which they are often misunderstood as instant generation, because they were born when technology was insight. Therefore, FEB UGM must strive to be able to face this challenge. "A good leader will create a lead to this new generation, positive thinking and empathy are the key," she said to around 40 participants.
However, she also said that millennial generation could provide positive value in any institution. "Diversity is inevitable and will continue to change generations, so maybe, try to imagine, exhibit A where in one organization, there were only baby boomers or generation Y? Or vice versa." Asked the mother of two children. She revealed that success in an organization or institution is not complaining about the situation but to resolve the complaint.
After an interesting presentation first session passed, then continued to second session with the theme of coaching training along with its direct practice. Participants seemed enthusiastic about knowing clearly what the difference between mentoring, counseling and coaching. Analisa explains "Coaching training in this case has a very unique approach. Coaching really believes that the solution actually exists for everyone. Each individual will find a solution to his own problem. A coach will not give a certain knowledge, but she must be able to dig up information and propose powerful questions so that coachee finds their own solution to the problem. "Release all your leadership attributes, because coaching will not work if you still consider it as your boss," added Analisa. At the end of the training session, participants were asked to practice becoming coaches and coachees, after that they ended with testimonials from the participants.
