We make a living by what we get but we make a life by what we give, That's the word from Whinston Churcill who always made an impression in the hearts of a Capt. Budi Soehardi.

Capt. Budi is the founder of the Roslin Orphanage in Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara. For his services in the field of humanity, in 2009, he received the award of CNN Hero from Cable News Network (CNN). CNN Hero is an annual special award from CNN for creating people who are considered to have made a major contribution to humanity.

On Friday (13/03), the former of Garuda Indonesia and Singapore Airlines pilot was given the opportunity to take a guest lecture and inspire participants who attend.

Eko Suwardi as the Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business Universitas Gadjah Mada (FEB UGM) give a speech by conveying that the younger generation must continue to care for the good. "Mr. Budi will inspire us, the younger generation of FEB UGM. Wisdom, integrity, are the values ​​of goodness which must continue to provide spirit throughout all eras," said Eko.

Capt. Budi starts a guest lecture by giving advice on life. "Whatever happens in our lives, don't ever run away from reality, because there is a will there is a way," Capt. Budi said. Then, he tells the beginning of the founding of the Roslin Orphanage.

At the 2000, he and his family planned a vacation. However, at the same time he and his family watched the broadcast of the Timor Timor refugee camp in Atambua, where conditions were very poor. "Compared with our good conditions, we felt empathy and finally we decided to cancel our holiday and finally we went to the refugees," Capt. Budi said.

There, he met many abandoned children, even many babies left by their parents with their body condition full of wounds. In fact, they live in houses made of cardboard in conditions of lack of food. From there he was increasingly moved to help until finally, he dedicated himself to caring for abandoned babies and taking care of hundreds of children at the Roslin Orphanage which he founded with his wife, Rosalinda Panagia Maria Lakusa.

Now, Capt. Budi already has 53 hectares of land to create an eco village and set up a dormitory for approximately 1,000 foster children. The foster children will later be educated, and it is hoped that after graduation they can contribute to building eco villages through the knowledge they have.

Capt. Budi pointed out that the profession which well-established with sufficient wealth is not always everyone's dream. There is one more thing that can make people feel happier, which is to do good and give happiness to others.
