Learn to Invest From a Practitioner's Perspective

Investment is currently an activity that the millennial generation likes to do. The reason is, investing can be done anywhere and provide benefits quickly. However, many young people still need help understanding how to support themselves correctly. Therefore, the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FEB UGM), held a seminar on "Investing from a Practitioner's Point of View." This seminar was held on Friday (24/02) in the Learning Center Auditorium Building, 8th floor of FEB UGM. This seminar aims to provide students with a direct understanding of how to invest correctly from experts.
The event opened with a speech by Gumilang Aryo Sahadewo, S.E., M.A., PhD, as Vice Dean for Research, Community Service, Cooperation, and Alumni. Gumilang said that Being a student is the best time to start investing. This is because, currently, there is a lot of investment information, and it is easy to get anywhere. Gumilang also said that now, students still need to invest optimally so that such activities can become a community for students with the same interests. It will make a network not only on campus but also outside.
Furthermore, Sesame Pontus S.T., CTA, CEWA as owner and CEO of Kanaka Hita Investama, tells how he built his business with the capital he got from stock gain. Sesame started his business in 2006 while in college. According to Sesame, we should make investments since high school by trying them directly because stock investment is an instrument that can change fate.
During the presentation session, Raditya Pradana, S.E., M.A., PhD, a Fundamental Analyst at PT Kanaka Hita Solvera and an Investment Banker Specialist at PT Agrapana Capital Investama, was the first speaker. In his presentation, Radit explained how cHow to choose the right stocks for investment. He explained the SECRET of Investing’, a fundamental analysis consisting of sales, Earnings, Current Economic, Ratios, and Extraordinary and technical analysis containing timing. Raditya stresses that sales growth must be matched by increased earnings (profit), influencing the stock price. It also explains the most accurate act to buy stocks is time-higher-low and sold on time-higher-high.
The next speaker is Daniel Agustinus, CEWA-M, the Fundamental Analyst of PT Kanaka Hita Solvera. In his presentation, Daniel explained that stocks are a matter of time. The faster we invest in stocks, the faster the profits we get. Daniel also describes the critical elements to being a successful trader and investor: mindset trading and investing is a business. Mindset trading & investing is not a quick way to get rich, but a sure way. This mindset creates the thought that investing is long-term, so we need to consider the risks before considering the reward they will accept. In addition, Daniel also explained that descending actor trend Stocks could come from a variety of factors, such as a large number of competitors to company information that is spread in the community.
The event continued with a question and answer session between participants and presenters. Apart from that, there are also post-tests provided by Kanaka to test participants' understanding of the material presented. The event closed by giving prizes to the winners post-test and a photo with all the participants.
