The Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FEB UGM), offers final-year undergraduate students a Final Project Clinic service. This service, managed by the Career and Student Development Center (CSDU) FEB UGM, is designed as a comprehensive support system covering academic and psychological aspects.
"The main purpose of this Final Project Clinic is to provide a support system for final year students in the completion of their theses and to offer moral support," explained the director of the CSDU, Dr. Arizona Mustikarini, on Thursday (26/9) at FEB UGM.
Arizona mentioned that many students face various challenges in preparing their final projects. These challenges are related to the technical aspects of writing a thesis and the mental pressure that arises during the process. The FEB UGM Final Project Clinic aims to address these challenges.
Therefore, through this Final Project Clinic, Arizona continued that CSDU FEB UGM provides two types of support: academic and psychological. On the academic side, students can consult with CSDU staff on the technical aspects of thesis writing. Meanwhile, on the psychological side, students can share their challenges while writing their thesis with a psychologist. The psychologist will help students with motivation, emotion regulation, and time management through group counseling.
"Students often feel anxious and pressured, especially when their peers have already graduated. This sense of loneliness and uncertainty can become a significant barrier," Arizona said.
The counseling sessions not only motivate students but also introduce them to peers who are facing similar challenges. The goal is to ensure they do not feel alone and can support each other.
"Connecting students with similar challenges can motivate and empower each other. This is critical to rebuilding their enthusiasm to complete their final project," added Arizona.
Arizona hoped this service would help students overcome obstacles hindering their thesis writing process. The presence of the Final Project Clinic is also expected to facilitate the thesis writing process. In this way, students are expected to complete their studies successfully.
Meanwhile, FEB UGM student Awane Theovilla Yogi appreciates the steps taken by FEB UGM in providing a Final Project Clinic for students. He is one of the students who benefited from this service while completing his thesis.
"The group consultation service helped me a lot. Through the group consultation, I could express the difficulties I was facing, get input from the psychologist, and find solutions," said the economics student.
M. Abyan Dzakir made a similar statement. This economics student also felt the benefits of the final project clinic service. He admitted that it helped him write his thesis. In addition, through the group consultations, he met other students who were working on their theses.
"I connected with others through the same process, so I didn't feel alone. CSDU has done an excellent job of supporting students working on their theses, and I found it very helpful," he said.
The Final Project Clinic service has been available since 2022 to help final-year students complete their theses, particularly those in their 13th and 14th semesters. This service reflects FEB UGM's strong commitment to supporting its students' academic success and mental well-being.
