Many Faculty of Economics and Business UGM students dream of working in one of the Big Four accounting firms (KAP). Galih Baskoro, an alumnus of FEB UGM's Undergraduate Program in Accounting (Class of 2005) and currently Assurance Director at PwC Indonesia, shared his experience working and thriving at PwC Indonesia for 14 years.
During the Alumni Sharing Session held on Monday, 18 November 2024, on the 8th floor of FEB UGM's Learning Center Building, Galih explained his motivation for pursuing a career at PwC. According to him, PwC's values of "building trust in society and solving important problems" align with his values, which makes him feel comfortable and passionate about his work.
"The key to happiness at work is having values that align with your organization. Fortunately, my values are aligned with PwC's, which makes me passionate about my work. I feel fulfilled when I help solve clients' problems because, in a way, I am also helping to build Indonesia," he explained.
Galih highlighted two key factors critical to success at PwC: trusted leadership and distinctive results. Trusted leadership involves inspiring, growing with the team, and being open to change.
Distinctive outcomes focus on delivering the best results in every task and ensuring significant contributions to clients and the firm.
He also addressed the common perception that working at PwC is high stress and high pressure. Galih clarified that PwC's primary product is human services, so the working environment is designed to be as comfortable and supportive as possible to encourage excellence. As a leader, he is committed to fostering a positive and supportive work culture for all employees.
"With over 3,000 people, not everyone can fully embody PwC's values. But during my time here, I've found the experience to be more than work - it's filled with joy, excitement, and countless growth opportunities," he said.
