Faculty of Economics and Business UGM lost one of their best lecturers. He is Drs. Harnanto, M.Soc.Sc., CMA. He passed away on Sunday, September 8th 2019 at Jogja International Hospital at the age of 68. He left a wife and two children behind.
He began his academic career at Faculty of Economics and Business UGM on February 1st, 1977. In 1976, he received his diploma degree (Drs.) from Faculty of Economics and Business UGM. Furthermore, Drs. Harnanto won his Master degree (M.Soc..Sc.) from The University of Birmingham, the United Kingdom.

In 1990 to 1995, he held the position of the Assistant Dean of Non-Degree Economics, Universitas Gadjah Mada. Additionaly, his next managerial experience was became the Assistant Dean II in Faculty of Economics and Business UGM started from 1998 to 2001. In 2002 to 2005, he continued his duty as General Director of BPFE FE UGM. Until the end of his life, he held the position of the Director of PT. Bhakti Profesindo, Yogyakarta.

Drs. Harnanto, M.Sos., Sc., retired as a lecturer at Faculty of Economics and Business UGM in September 2015 and subsequently became a non-permanent lecturer for Undergraduate and Master Study Programs. He was an enthusiastic lecturer and gave such inspirational motivations toward his juniors. “We all lost our figure of father, a lecture as well as a senior who taught us so many things in life.” said the Dean of Faculty of Economics and Business UGM, Eko Suwardi, Ph.D.

Moreover, now, Drs. Harnanto, M.Soc.Sc is gone. The deceased was buried on Monday, September 9th, 2019 at the UGM Cemetery Sawitsari, Depok, Sleman, Yogyakarta. May his deeds be accepted in His side and may our Lord blesses and comforts his family during this time of grief. Farewell, Drs. Harnanto, M.Soc.Sc., you will always be remembered.
