A lecturer of the Department of Accounting, Universitas Gadjah Mada, Zuni Barokah , Ph.D. received the Best Reviewer Award from the International Accounting Section of the American Accounting Association (AAA). Zuni received the award
during the 20th Annual Midyear Meeting International Accounting Section, AAA, held from February 20-22nd, 2014 in San Antonio, Texas, USA. The forum was organized by the AAA in collaboration with the International Association for Accounting Education and Research (IAAER) and is a prestigious forum for researchers in the field of international accounting in the world.
Zuni Barokah submitted a review on a research paper in the AAA conference to the conference committee, where more than 80 experts in international accounting from around the world participated. The award was presented during a luncheon attended by several prominent international accounting researchers, such as Mary Barth, President of the American Association Accounting 2013-2014, and Elizabeth Gordon, member of the Executive Committee of the International Association of Accounting Education and Research and is the President of the International Accounting Section, AAA, 2013-2014.
Zuni and her colleague, Singgih Wijayana , Ph.D, also presented their study during the conference. Zuni presented a paper with a title "Corporate Related - Party Disclosure: Empirical Evidence from the Asia - Pacific Region,” while Singgih Wijayana presented "Convergence of Accounting Standards and the Usefulness of U.S. GAAP Reconciliations.”
"Thank God, due to the awards, many participants asked about UGM," said Zuni. She had the opportunity to introduce UGM to the conference attendants who were curious about the university. The Chair of the Department of Accounting, Mahfud Sholihin, Ph.D. is satisfied and proud with the achievements. "Zuni’s achievement further confirmed that our Department of Accounting is recognized worldwide," said Mahfud, Thursday (27/2).
