Second Runner-Up Victory by the UGM FEB Team at the 2021 IESC Summit

A student team from the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) UGM Undergraduate Program managed to make it into the top three and won the title of Second Runner-Up (third place) in the IESC Summit 2021 National Business Case Competition.The IESC Summit competition is held by The Industrial Engineering Student Community (IESC) and aims to develop industrial engineering through a series of workshops, conferences, and business case competitions was conducted virtually on 6 Dcsember 2021 to 12 February 2022 and was themed "The New Era of FMCG Business Digitalization".
The FEB UGM student team was named Radiobread,consisting of Qeyra Noer Aumara Arsyi (Management-IUP 2020), Sabrina Eunice S (Management-IUP 2020), and Shalsadilla Nadya Prameswary (Management-IUP 2020). Radiobread succeeded in making FEB UGM proud after successfully going through three stages of the competition that challenged the power of critical reasoning and creative thinking skills in solving real business cases around the company's operational problems. The first stage required the team to complete the first case and submit it in the form of a proposal. Next is the top ten stage where ten teams are asked to present a solution to the first case. Finally, the five teams that passed then competed again by solving the second case and presenting it in front of the judges.
In this competition, a real business case was provided by Procter & Gamble (P&G), a multinational fast moving consumer goods company (FMCG) from the United States, regarding problem solving in business operations. Radiohead used a strategy approach that focused on in-depth environmental analysis, strategy design, and product excellence to solve the cases. This approach became the strength of the team to be able to achieve strategic solutions that are right according to the main objectives supported by the use of several frameworks such as SWOT, VUCA, PEST, Mintzberg's 5Ps, BCG Matrix, and SPRINT.
Radiohead Team members who came from similar educational backgrounds initially struggled in cracking operational problems because it was very new to them. However, with high commitment and curiosity, the Radiohead Team was able to present a solution to the case problems and made it into the top three as the second-runner up.
