Startup Businesses Have Enormous Potential to Grow

In the present era, the young generation is starting to like entrepreneurship. Topic-related matters are become discussion in the CEO Talk event "Entrepreneurship Before 30s" as one activity from the Inauguration of the BNI FEB UGM Supporting Branch Office (KCP). The event was held on Wednesday (8/3) on the 1st floor of Grha Sabha Pramana (GSP) UGM. This event aims to motivate the young generation, especially students, to do entrepreneurship. In activities, the presenting speaker is Royke Tumilaar, CEO of PT BNI Tbk.
In his presentation, Royke explained at least three reasons why the young generation must own a mindset for entrepreneurship. First, Indonesia's percentage of entrepreneurs still needs to be higher than other ASEAN countries, while now it is only 3.47%. Besides that, the availability of fieldwork is also still minimal and not comparable to the large numbers of work labourers on the market. According to data, the number of undergraduate/diploma graduates reaches 1.5 million per year; meanwhile, field available jobs are only as big as three hundred thousand. Royke says those circumstances must become pushers for the young generation to start entrepreneurship. "With entrepreneurship, we have flexibility, a higher chance to actualise ourselves, and opportunities to create field jobs," he said.
Next up, Royke exposed that Micro, Small and Medium Entrepreneurship (MSME) is a mover growth economy nationally. The latest data shows that MSME contributes to the National GDP by 61.07% or is valued at IDR 8,574 trillion. MSME's contribution to national export is also counted as significant, namely 15.69% or valued at IDR 339.2 trillion. The existence of MSMEs in Indonesia can absorb 119.56 million power work. Royke also conveyed that moment this business stub has enormous growth potential, mainly after the Covid-19 pandemic. According to him, the young generation can take advantage of this momentum to try several potential new businesses, like business food and drink, supplies sport, product friendly environment, to digital media.
The subsequent discussion is regarding business models. Royke shared tips for building a good business model: from identifying segmentation and target market to setting competitive and reckoning price and value for money. According to him, the business model is vital for entrepreneurs to pay attention to make the business more structured. Although this, in intertwining business, the reality is often not under expectations and plans early. Because entrepreneurship means ready for ups and downs and familiar with failure. Royke also underlined that networking is found substantial in a building company. The young generation can start entrepreneurship by making friends as a partner. "Do not close yourself and make friends with many people because, with collaboration, we can open opportunities for our company to develop rapidly," he added.
The final topic talks about how banking helps in developing successful entrepreneurship. At the moment, the role of banking is not limited becomes an institution intermediary but also as an ecosystem orchestrator in the development of MSME business. The banking also has several targeted programs to support MSMEs on a more productive, digital-based, and global scale. The bank will give different schemes based on phases and conditions for support financing. Because of that, Royke said that in a business is very important to own a business entity licensing, structured cash flow, and precise planning to get capital from the bank. The event ended with a question and answer session, which was listened to enthusiastically by the participants.
