The Student Executive Board of the Faculty of Economics and Business (BEM FEB) at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) provided business development training for the esteemed lurik weaving artisans in Sumberarum Village, Sleman Regency, Yogyakarta Special Region. Weaving lurik, a treasured ancestral heritage passed down through generations, has not only become a source of livelihood but also a symbol of cultural pride for the people of Sumberarum. Lurik is one of Indonesia's traditional fabrics, and it is widely produced in Java.

The training event, titled "Integration of Business Strategies for the Preservation of Local Wisdom," is a testament to the collaborative efforts of BEM FEB UGM and Hiroshima University of Economics through the Indonesian International Contribution Project (HUE IICP). The event, held on Tuesday, June 11, 2024, in Sumberarum Village, was a gathering of at least 50 participants, including lurik weaving artisans from Sumberarum Village and the local community, all united in their shared responsibility for the preservation of local wisdom.

Jemma Tambunan, Head of Event Creative HUE IICP and staff of the Human Resource Development Bureau of BEM FEB UGM stated that the training aims not only to enhance the knowledge and skills of the lurik weaving artisans in Sumberarum Village but also to serve as a means of building positive communication and partnerships with the Sumberarum Village community.

The training focused on creating and selling local sustainable brand products, a crucial aspect of the economic development of Sumberarum Village. Jemma Tambunan, Head of Event Creative HUE IICP, shared this insight on Friday (June 14) at FEB UGM.

The training featured Ina Melati S.E., M.M., a lecturer from the Management Study Program of FEB UGM, who delivered a presentation on management and marketing. This presentation assists in conceptualizing and developing the lurik weaving business in Sumberarum Village.
"The hope is that this training will provide new insights and knowledge related to entrepreneurship," she explained.
