The early days of college life are an ideal time for new students to explore themselves, whether through joining organizations, competitions, or scholarships. However, many new students often need guidance on where to find information about these opportunities. To address this concern, the Career and Student Development Unit (CSDU) and the Global Relations and Mobility Office (GREAT) organized Student Week 2024 on Thursday (6/9) at the Plaza of the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FEB UGM).

Student Week is an exhibition of student activities that aims to help students, especially new students, to discover their academic and non-academic interests and talents. This year, Student Week 2024 is themed "Explore Your Future: Discover Opportunities for Growth and Global Experience," with four main activities: the Departmental Student Organization/Student Activity Unit (HMJ/LK) Expo, the International Cultural Festival, the Scholarship Fair, and a Scholarship and Competition Seminar from the UGM Student Affairs Directorate.

In his opening remarks, Suyanto, S.E., M.B.A., Ph.D., FEB UGM's Vice Dean for Finance, Assets, and Human Resources, expressed his hope that Student Week 2024 could help students explore their interests and talents during their time at FEB UGM.

"As part of the FEB UGM anniversary, Student Week 2024 is expected to help students access various information related to scholarships, student exchange programs, and student organizations available at FEB UGM," said Suyanto.

However, unlike a typical expo, Student Week 2024 featured fun activities such as prize-winning games, a photo booth, and free international food. At the International Cultural Festival, dozens of international students from countries such as Austria, Denmark, Germany, Norway, Japan, South Korea, and France eagerly eagerly shared their home countries' unique cultures and cuisines. Among them were Leonie and Celian, exchange students from France who participated in the student exchange program at FEB UGM. They enthusiastically presented French culture, including traditional French food.

"We presented some traditional French foods such as croissants and pain au chocolat," said Celian.

Leonie also expressed her excitement about participating in this year's Student Week. According to her, the event allowed her to learn many new things.

"This event is fun because we get to meet new friends and learn about cultures from other countries that we didn't know about before," Leonie said.

The excitement was not only felt by the international students. Andini, a student from Yogyakarta, also shared her excitement for Student Week 2024.

"I'm so happy because I got to take a break from my studies and gained a lot of insight and motivation from this event. I also got a clearer picture of the organizations by talking directly with the members," said Andini, an economics student from the class of 2023.

Student Week 2024 aims to inspire students to develop themselves both academically and non-academically through various student activities. In doing so, it seeks to enhance the skills and global competitiveness of FEB UGM students on the international stage.
