Social media has become one of the most powerful marketing tools in today's digital era, especially for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). Digital marketing practitioner and content creator Primastuti Satrianto emphasized the importance of social media as a primary marketing channel. She shared practical strategies to help MSMEs maximize their digital marketing efforts.
At a business clinic titled "Social Media Optimization and Customer Communication" hosted by FEB UGM on November 19-20, Primastuti highlighted several social media platforms that can be used to promote products, including Instagram, TikTok, WhatsApp Business, and Google My Business. When creating content, she emphasized the importance of planning the right strategy to ensure products are widely recognized and thriving in the marketplace.
"Identify the types of content your audience enjoys, encourage active interactions, and make sure the visuals are consistent with a hue representing your product. Complement this with informative captions that include an appropriate call-to-action (CTA)," she advised.
In addition, she suggested using insight tools to analyze social media content and providing quick responses after posting content to maintain audience engagement.
"In digital marketing, understanding the insights from your social media posts is critical to reaching a broader audience and increasing interaction. Insights can also provide demographic data about your followers, which helps create more relevant and engaging content strategies," said Primastuti.
Beyond social media optimization, effective communication is a key factor in maintaining customer relationships. Primastuti explained that clear, straightforward communication can prevent misunderstandings and improve the customer experience.
"There are several principles that should be applied when building good communication, such as greeting customers warmly, being honest, expressing gratitude, and apologizing for any mistakes or complaints," she said.
Primastuti also emphasized that experience and consistent practice will improve skills over time. She also shared tips for improving expertise in both online and offline marketing. Some steps include continually updating and expanding knowledge, using the ATM method (observe, imitate, modify), joining communities to share insights, and understanding that setbacks are part of the process of success.
