Cindy Chyntia Cendani (Accounting 2015), Undergraduate student of FEB UGM, won the first place in National Essay Competition "Millennial Generation" 2017 which was the pre-event of International Youth Forum on Innovation 2017 in Singapore. The competition is organized by EdConex International, a community that houses Indonesian young people to share their aspirations for the betterment of society, both nationally and internationally. The mechanism of this competition was that participants from all over Indonesia can submit their ideas on the challenges and opportunities of the 21st Century Youth in the form of an Indonesian-language essay. The deadline for collecting the paperwork was July 15, 2017.

UGM delegation team which is consisted of Irvandias Sanjaya (Faculty of Psychology) and Wahyuningtyas Puspitasari (Faculty of Economics and Business) got the best delegate on 2nd Startup Accelerator Class. This event is held in 3 days from July 10th-12th 2017 by Indonesian Youth Academy in Kaplan University, Singapore.

Delegation team from Universitas Gadjah Mada was awarded as the Best Paper of Fashion and Cosmetics Category in Annual Islamic Economics National Symposium named Temu Ilmiah Nasional 2017 held by FoSSEI (Forum Silaturahim Studi Ekonomi Islam) on 28th to 29th April 2017 in Yogyakarta. The team members who also the members of SEF (Shariah Economics Forum) are Elvira Ayu Nurkhasanah, Hasibuana Laras Kinanti, and Khusnul Khalifah (Economics Batch 2016). The paper entitled "Online Mentoring sebagai Business Incubator untuk Meningkatkan Komoditas Ekspor Modest Fashion Indonesia" presented in the symposium with the theme "Optimizing Indonesian’s Potential towards the World Halal Lifestyle Center". Not only a paper competition, the delegation should give their recommendation to certain stakeholder by upholding the principles of Islam.

Another outstanding achievement has been made by UGM students. On this occasion, the students grabbed titles from the Asia-Pacific Model United Nations (AMUNC) 2017, an international competition held in Hong Kong. UGM sent six students, Andi Andhyaksa (Faculty of Law 2015), Jesita Wida Ajani (Faculty of Economics and Business 2016), Arumdriya Soemoharmanto (Faculty of Social and Political Sciences 2015), Marsa Harisa (Faculty of Medicine 2014), Fikri Abirawa (Faculty of Law 2015), and Ellyaty Priyanka (Faculty of Social and Political Sciences 2015). The event ran from 19-23 June 2017 at Hong Kong University. The UGM students competed with representatives from Australia, Korea, Singapore, and other Asia-Pacific nations.
