The 1986 Alumni Family of the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Gadjah Mada (KAFEGAMA) held another reunion after five years. The reunion was held at the UGM Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) Learning Building on Saturday, July 27, 2024.
Chairman of the KAFEGAMA 86 reunion committee, Dr. Ema Nurmaya, SE, MM, said that this reunion had the theme Building Togetherness, Strengthening Brotherhood. This theme means that this reunion activity is not only a place to meet and reminisce about memories during the lecture period but also to strengthen alum bonds. "It's nice to meet old friends and share stories. "Moreover, this reunion is held at the faculty; we will feel the vibes while studying," she explained Saturday (27/7).
Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business UGM Prof. Dr. Didi Achjari, M.Com., Ak., CA., in his speech, expressed the hope that FEB UGM alums could actively participate in motivating students. Apart from that, alums are also expected to be able to support campus development, including the faculty accreditation process.
"We also hope that FEB UGM can become a miniature Indonesia, where all students from all over Indonesia can study at FEB UGM so that it can become a home for forming the character of the nation's children," he said.
At this reunion, KAFEGAMA 86 also conducted the election of the Chair of KAFEGAMA 86 for the 2024 period. Through voting, Meizar Effendi was elected as Chair of KAFEGAMA 86, replacing Muhammad Edhie Purnawan, MA, Ph.D who previously served as Chair of KAFEGAMA 86 for 2019-2024.
Meizar Effendi expressed his happiness at meeting old friends, reuniting them, and even meeting some who had finally met after not seeing each other for decades. Being Chairman of KAFEGAMA is a challenging task for him, but it must still be carried out.
"As the new chairman of KAFEGAMA, of course, I hope to make a good contribution to FEB UGM and fellow alumni, both in the social sector, entrepreneurship education, and others, to provide added value to the class and faculty," he said.
The Class of 86 reunion, which was attended by 146 alums, was animated with various activities, one of which was the release of birds and balloons in the courtyard of the UGM Hall. Also, to evoke memories of the UGM campus, alums toured UGM using dong along, passing the UGM roundabout, houses of worship, and the UGM valley. Then, on the FEB UGM campus, 86 alumni participated in fun game activities and performed between study programs.
