At the beginning of the visit, Vice Dean Gumilang Aryo Sahadewo expressed his gratitude to Jasindo for mentoring FEB UGM students who participated in an international insurance competition in Singapore. The mentoring provided the students with valuable insights into the insurance industry.
"FEB UGM actively encourages students to participate in various international competitions. The direct mentoring from Jasindo experts during the recent international insurance competition provided valuable insights for the students, especially in agricultural insurance," he explained on Thursday, August 23, at the Jasindo Yogyakarta Branch.
Gumilang added that FEB UGM is also open to future collaboration offers by inviting experts from Jasindo to teach in the classes. The presence of industry practitioners is expected to bring a different perspective to the learning process.
"We hope that Jasindo practitioners can join us on campus to give lectures or engage in discussions related to insurance. In addition, we expect to collaborate in imparting financial literacy, including insurance literacy, to students," he said.
Meanwhile, Lambertus Dwi Setiawan, M.Eng, Head of Jasindo Yogyakarta, welcomed FEB UGM's collaboration proposal. He mentioned that Jasindo had already planned to discuss the development of agricultural insurance products with FEB UGM.
On this occasion, FEB UGM also presented a certificate of appreciation to Lambertus, who had mentored the FEB UGM student team in the 2024 NTU-Global Asia Insurance Partnership (GAIP) Insurance Case Competition on August 16, 2024 at NTU, Singapore. The FEB UGM team secured second place in this prestigious competition, which attracted 110 teams from various universities in the ASEAN region. As previously reported, the FEB UGM team presented a case study on developing agricultural insurance managed by Jasindo. They highlighted the role of agricultural insurance in protecting Indonesia's agricultural sector from unexpected risks. Their proposed solution was to create a market or ecosystem that could facilitate the development of agricultural insurance in Indonesia using artificial intelligence (AI) technology.
