With the rapid growth of the energy industry and the transition to sustainable energy, career opportunities in the sector are becoming increasingly accessible. FEB UGM, as part of the Career Insight 2024 event, invited the Downstream Oil and Gas Regulatory Agency (BPH Migas) to present prospects in the oil and gas industry, including career opportunities, through the BPH Migas Goes To Campus program.

On the second day of the Career Insight UGM event, held at Grha Sabha Pramana, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) on Friday, October 18, 2014, BPH Migas Committee Member Ir. Basuki Trikora Putra presented the BPH Migas Goes to Campus program as a platform for education and knowledge sharing on the downstream oil and gas sector, particularly in energy. He outlined BPH Migas' six main missions, including ensuring the availability of fuel distribution, managing national fuel reserves, and implementing the BBM One Price policy in all regions of Indonesia.

He emphasized BPH Migas' critical role in overseeing fuel distribution and highlighted the company's continuous efforts to innovate to ensure fuel subsidies are accurately targeted.
"We are constantly innovating through digitization and monitoring application systems to ensure that subsidies go to the rightful recipients," he said.

Meanwhile, another BPH Migas committee member, Yapit Sapta Putra, S.E., M.M., introduced the hundreds of students attending the event to various career opportunities in the oil and gas sector. Through a video presentation of the BPH Migas profile, which showed the journey of fuel distribution across the country, including the BBM Satu Harga program, a government initiative since 2016, students were encouraged to delve deeper into the downstream oil and gas sector, from the fuel distribution process to career prospects in the industry.

He also hoped that students would actively monitor the BBM subsidy program to ensure it is appropriately targeted. "We hope that students can actively participate and see first-hand how energy distribution is carried out in Indonesia. We also hope that students will be part of the community that helps monitor the BBM subsidy program to ensure it is on target," said Yapit.

The VP of Fuel Sales echoed the call for students to contribute to the success of government programs at PT. Pertamina Patra Niaga, Eko Ricky Susanto, S.T., MBA. He encouraged the students present to act as agents of change by helping to socialize the digitization system of the BBM subsidy monitoring application to the public.

Earlier, the Secretary of the Directorate of Partnerships and Global Relations at UGM, Wiratni, S.T., M.T., Ph.D., expressed her gratitude to BPH Migas and Pertamina for providing UGM students with the opportunity to learn more about the oil and gas industry and career opportunities in the sector. Wiratni emphasized that this event was a unique opportunity for students to learn from professionals from BPH Migas and Pertamina while broadening their understanding of the downstream oil and gas sector.

"UGM, with its 18 faculties and a diverse student body from Indonesia and abroad, has a unique ecosystem with strong social awareness and academic skills. We hope that through today's event, BPH Migas can identify UGM students who are ready to contribute their talents to the oil and gas sector," she concluded.
