Friday (21/7), Department of Economics of the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FEB UGM), again held a Seminar and Public Lecture (SinarKU) with the theme "Social Protection in Developing Countries: Lessons from Indonesia". Quoting Franklin D. Roosevelt, the 32nd President of the United States (US), "The test of our progress is not whether we add more to the abundance of those who have much; it is whether we provide enough for those who have too little." So in order to manifest this, this time SinarKU discusses the application of social protection, as well as insights that can be learned from an analysis of its mechanisms in Indonesia.

Thursday (18/07), the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FEB UGM), officially held the closing ceremony for the 2023 Global Summer Week. This event was held offline on the 8th floor of the FEB UGM Learning Center Building. Global Summer Week, previously called I-Week, is an annual event by FEB UGM in the form of short-term learning (short courses) in the summer. This year's Global Summer Week events series took place from 5-18 July 2023.

In alleviating poverty and overcoming economic vulnerability in Indonesia, the 2023 Global Summer Week (GSW), which was organized by the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FEB UGM) presented Dr Sudarno Sumarto, a researcher from the National Team for the Acceleration of Poverty Reduction (TN2PK) and the SMERU Research Institute, to fill in the 15th lecture entitled "Social Protection for All: Indonesia's Efforts to Overcome Poverty and Economic Vulnerability."

Monday (17/07), the 14th session of the Global Summer Week 2023 featured Dr. Elan Satriawan, a lecturer from the Department of Economics at the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FEB UGM). During this session, Dr. Elan presented material related to social protection as a shield against the systemic impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic. The pandemic has caused an economic crisis worldwide, Indonesia being no exception. However, Indonesia has shown resilience in the face of the situation.

Thursday (13/7), the Global Summer Week (GSW) 2023 enters its 13th lecture, presenting Dr Gunalan Nadarajah from Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM). This lecture takes a specific theme, namely, the ethical concept in supply chain management is explored, as well as the challenges faced in implementing responsible practices. Dr. Gunalan's discussion covers various ethical issues in different supply chain areas, including procurement/purchasing, planning, warehousing, logistics, and information systems.

Thursday (13/7), entering the 12th lecture of Global Summer Week (GSW) 2023, the Faculty of Economics and Business Universitas Gadjah Mada (FEB UGM) presented Prof. Dr. Syed Abdul Hamid Aljunid lectures in Ethics and Governance at The International Center for Education in Islamic Finance (INCEIF) University. Prof Syed discussed the importance of promoting ethics and governance in private companies, including Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), as well as the related challenges. In this discourse, one of the questions discussed is whether ethical discourse should be the same between companies listed on the stock exchange and MSMEs. In addition, can ethical theories be applied in the same way when understanding ethics in SMEs?
