Indonesian economy in the 3rd quarter of 2015 grew 4.73% compared to the figure of the same quarter in the previous year, and grew 3.21% against the previous quarter. However, economic growth is not accompanied by improvements in other indicators, so there are still cases such as unequal distribution of income, poverty, and unemployment.

International recognition is, again, achieved by faculty member of UGM, Singgih Wijayana Ph.D, lecturer of Faculty of Economics and Business. Singgih earned Quality Paper Award in a conference held by National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) and Taiwan Accounting Association (TAA) collaborating with International Association for Accounting Education and Research (IAAER) in Tainan, Taiwan, from December 2-4th 2015. This conference is a prestigious academic forum in East Asia.

Bank of Indonesia (BI) provides assistance to social programs for a few universities in Yogyakarta such as UGM, UNY, UMY, and UIN Sunan Kalijaga, Saturday (11/14), in the Senate Hall of UGM. BI also provides social assistance through access to clean water to Rejosari Village, Kulonprogo regency. The distribution of aid was forwarded by BI governor, Agus D. W. Martowardojo to the representatives from the universities. The social aid was given in a BI Corner form, which is internet based library that can be accessed by students.

Chairman of National Agency for Alms from Muslims (BAZNAS) who is also professor of Faculty of Economics and Business Universitas Gadjah Mada (FEB UGM), Prof. Bambang Sudibyo, said Baznas would optimize alms collections from all ministries, government agencies, regional governments, private companies, and Muslim people. So far, Baznas and Lazis organizations have collected up to Rp3.4 trillions.
